TRAINING

Over the past decade, training has become a priority for security and corrections officers. At the CTS Training Institute (CTSTI), preparedness is promoted before critical scenarios unfold. CTSTI offers training programs that combine product tools with knowledge and techniques, preparing officers for various situations and helping agencies manage risks.

Among the training programs is the less-lethal instructor certification course, a 3-day program that teaches the safe use of these products. Additionally, PENN ARMS offers courses on the maintenance of 37MM and 40MM less-lethal launchers.

Training Schedule

As a requirement of their instructor-level training, students must actively engage in the specific exercises of the course they are signing up for. For these lessons to be effective and for the students to pass the courses, they must be in good physical shape. In some of these courses, students may be exposed to chemical agents. It is the responsibility of students with medical issues that have to limit their participation to get medical clearance from their doctor before enrolling. Conditions such as high blood pressure, heart issues, lung issues, including bronchitis and asthma, or allergies are among those that call for such a visit.

CTSTI is not responsible for those students who do not seek medical consultation before participating in the course. Those unable to do the exercises cannot finish the instructor level course. It’s the student’s responsibility to ensure they are physically capable of meeting the course requirements.
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive certification as a Combined Systems Instructor, enabling them to provide instruction to end users within their department. The certification remains valid for four years from the date of completion.
